The ability to assess the developmental and psychosocial needs of infants, children, youth, and families.
My Theory Paper explains the importance of assessing a child's developmental needs using Erik Erikson's Psychosocial Theory to promote healthy coping when hospitalized. This demonstrates my ability to assess psychosocial and developmental needs, something I plan to always work on in my career as a Child Life Specialist.
This developmental chart demonstrates my understanding of different child development theories and how to integrate them into child life practice. The chart states typical developmental achievements or behaviors, theories, challenges/stressors of hospitalization, common behaviors of developmental stages, and ways to promote coping through child life intervention.
